Conquering Childhood Obesity
Gulf Coast Health Educators and the City of Biloxi are co-hosting the Second Annual conference to Conquer Childhood Obesity. Along with health professionals, schools and others involved with the youth, the event will provide a venue where we will identify specific needs to conquer the childhood obesity epidemic in our region and to secure funding to meet and provide the resources that are needed to address those needs.
The educational portion of this activity is presented by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, Division of Professional Development. Continuing education is a separate registration which is required at the beginning of the conference. Planning Forms have been submitted for review for continuing education credit. The Department of Mental Health, Division of Professional Development is approved as a provider (#SWB120008) by the Mississippi Board of Examiners for Social Workers and Marriage & Family Therapists. The Division maintains responsibility for the educational program. Social Workers may receive up to 6 hour(s) for full attendance/successful completion in this course. The Mississippi Department of Mental Health is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Mississippi Nurses Foundation, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission of Accreditation. The Department of Mental Health, Division of Professional Development which is recognized by the National Board for Certified Counselors to offer continuing education for National Certified Counselors. We adhere to NBCC Continuing Education Guidelines. (Provider #5920). The Department of Mental Health, Division of Professional Development which is approved by the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) to provide continuing education for alcohol and substance abuse counselors. (Provider #177). The Mississippi Department of Mental Health, Division of Professional Licensure and Certification which is an approver of continuing education for Certified/Licensed Mental Health Therapists, Certified/Licensed Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Therapists, Licensed DMH Administrators, Certified Case Management Professionals, Certified/Licensed DMH Addictions Therapists, and Certified Peer Support Specialists. An application for continuing nursing education credit has been submitted to Memorial Hospital at Gulfport, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation The conference has been approved for 9 CEU's for Registered Dietitians Early childhood workers have been approved for 9 clock hours The conference has been approved for 0.9 hours for teachers The conference has been approved for 9 CEU hours for Social Workers Nursing CEU's approved for 9 hours The conference has been approved for 9 hrs for Counselor/LPC
